The huge popularity of short-form content, designed for maximum engagement, is altering art, education, and even our cultural values. It often pushes for quick virality over deep thought, sensation over real substance, and individual performance over meaningful group experiences.
These broader consequences show us that fixing social media addiction isn't just about individual mental health or consumer protection. It’s a fundamental challenge to keeping our democratic society healthy and allowing humans to truly thrive in the digital age. This kind of addiction engineering on a massive scale is one of the biggest threats to our ability to make our own choices and live together peacefully in modern history. We need solutions that are as big and smart as the challenge itself.
